Dissolving of dermal fillers is sometimes called upon for both medical and cosmetic reasons. The time of the “trout pout” is officially over and now is the reign of the natural, subtle enhancement by the use of dermal fillers. This has led to the rise in popularity of dissolving dermal fillers.
Whilst dermal fillers can be used to create volume and shape to an area, when overused the face becomes to look unnatural, puffy and overdone. This can easily be remedied by the use of Hyaluronidase enzyme. This enzyme acts to dissolve the excess hyaluronic acid found in dermal fillers, reinstating the natural form of the face.
The filler can be dissolved completely or partially depending on your desired outcome.
In more recent years this treatment has been highlighted because of celebrities such as Kylie Jenner who once chose an overfilled look but now opts for a subtle natural appearance.
Under qualified non-medical practitioners may have overfilled the area, or left lumps and bumps and more dangerously blocked a blood vessel which can lead to death of the tissues involved, the skillful use of this enzyme is crucial. The Medispa offers the dissolving of dermal fillers service to help rectify any such concerns. We are often left having to correct these abnormalities, it highlights the importance of only visiting a highly trained medical practitioner with years of experience. At The Medispa you are in safe hands.

    WHAT ARE DISSOLVING FILLERS?

If you are unhappy with the results of your dermal fillers or feel too much dermal filler has been administered, it may need to be dissolved. Dissolving dermal filler is the quick and safe procedure of carefully injecting the enzyme Hyaluronidase into the area being treated. Hyaluronidase enzyme is a naturally occurring compound found in the body in small quantities. It is actually this enzyme in the body that slowly over time dissolves fillers which are injected.
A higher concentration of Hyaluronidase enzyme can be use directly at the sight of treatment to accelerate the body’s natural breakdown of the hyaluronic acid of which dermal fillers are composed of.
As the dermal fillers breakdown they are carried away naturally through the bodies filtration system.
Hyaluronidase is a prescription only medicine so it’s only available to medically qualified practitioners and a test patch must always be done prior to treatment in case of any allergies. This is a medical intervention normally reserved for emergency use with filler complications however we can perform the procedure to correct poor aesthetic results due to our expertise and only following an in depth consultation and a patch test.
We understand that often clients have had poor work carried out or are unhappy with the results. They feel there are limited options available to help them at this stage, our medical practitioners can help.

    FAQS

    Is it safe?

Hyaluronidase enzyme is only available by prescription. Only a medically qualified practitioner is able to obtain this. Hyaluronidase enzyme is found in small concentrations naturally within the body. It is important to only see a highly trained and experienced practitioner to ensure the correct concentration is applied. There is a chance of having an allergic reaction to the hyaluronidase enzyme. It is therefore crucial to always have a test patch done prior to treatment.

    Is it painful?

Numbing cream is used prior to any treatment to minimise any discomfort you may experience.

    Are there any side-effects?

This is a very quick treatment and only takes a few minutes. The dermal fillers are dissolved very quickly and may cause some swelling around the area treated. The swelling can take between 24 to 72 hours to resolve completely. There is also a small chance of bruising at the sight of injection.

Can I have dermal fillers again?

Sometimes it is best to start from scratch. We advise waiting at least two weeks after the dissolving treatment before dermal fillers be used again in the area.
